Every year, all the downtown restaurants get together and compete for the title of best chili at the Great Downtown Ithaca Chili Cook-off & WinterFest! This year’s fest is Sunday, February 20, from 11-4. Events include Chili Tasting, Mechanical Bull Riding, Chili Idol Karaoke, Farmers Market, Wine & Beer Tasting, Music, Contests and Prizes. If you’ve never experienced Chili Fest before, you must!
Tackle the “Fat Kid” burger at the Ale House
The Ale House is one of the most popular restaurants in the commons, and for good reason. They have a menu of over 10 different kinds of original burgers, each with their own flare and kick. Your mission is to take on the “Fat Kid” burger: an Angus burger in-between two grilled cheese sandwiches instead of buns. Tyler Faust did it… can you? Good luck!

Dubbed by Sports Illustrated as the “biggest little game in the nation,” Cortaca is the annual rivalry game between Ithaca and Cortland. The tradition of this infamous game has been carried on since 1930, and has proven to always be a sloppy day for the fans. If you have gone three years without going to single Cortaca Jug game… what are you waiting for?? This year’s game is November 12th, and it is right here on our campus! WOO!!!!

The Moonshadow Tavern, otherwise known as “The Tavern” or “Club Shadows” is one of the most popular bars in the Ithaca commons area. With nightly themes such as trivia, chug-a-mug, and beer pong tournaments, you def need to check it out.

Viva Taqueria & Cantina is a great mexican restaurant located at the corner of State and Aurora. If you haven’t been yet… what are you waiting for?!
